Inquiry Project
I am currently conducting research into how Community Based/Project Based Learning might enhance our education system when combined with digital media technologies to showcase student work.
This inquiry began during my post-internship, ESST 369 class. Under the guidance of Rick Ast I have been introduced to some predominant publications in this area of education such as:
- A Project Based Learning Handbook (2nd Ed.) developed by the Buck Institute for Education.
- A report on Community Based Learning put out by the Coalition for Community Schools.
- Excerpts from a book by Garth Boomer entitled “Negotiating the Curriculum: Educating for the 21st Century.”
- Ken Macrorie’s I-Search Model.
- Michael Wesch and the digital ethnography working group at mediatedculture.net @ Kansas State University.
This research is just in the initial stages of development. I will soon be posting a copy of my research purpose, evolving question along with possibilities of data collection as the project evolves. Stay tuned for more developments in this area and if you know of any other resources that might be of interest to me, please get in touch with me and share your insights.
